The Edison accounts is a piece of media fiction, Created by Christopher Curtis in the March of 2021.
The book is a paranormal ghost story with a seldom plot. you may find yourself saying: “Well, nothing really happens, but…”
PLOT SUMMARY
Protagonist, Charles Edison runs an operation, The Edison Institute, where local New York papers are distributed and published. Unfortunately, Charles Edison Hazards a secret of his own, laced with Shame and crime. Charles Edison’s new theory, essentially ignorance. He believes (and makes it pretty crystal clear..) The life you are given is sacred, those who do not use it effectively are futile; damning, and undeserving.
This eventually comes back to bite him, when he dies at his desk in 1967.His funeral is vaguely attended, As a stubborn man Charles left the Edison Institute, in his will. To no one. eventually it closed down of its own volition, As dead as Charles was, sympathy was never present when talking about his cruel ways.To quote the book, “an already cold man, buried colder.”Where our story begins, Charles Edison is awake, Inside his building, sat at his desk. As the initial shock sets in Charles runs outside, looking up to the sign above the entrance, discovering ‘the Edison institute’, has been renamed.
The Edison Accounts
Edison’s eventual punishment for his wrong-doings, a reinvented work space. Charles Edison had no personal beliefs, so heaven, well.. hell was off the table. He was sent back into the world as a ghost, Because the institute was forgotten, no one alive noticed the substantial change. Just another office. In this existence, the only time you’d see a ghost, such as Charles, is… if you were immensely Drunk, sloshed or A lot more than Tipsy.
Or if your name is Sam Richardson, a 46 year old man who owns an antique shop in New York. He is Alive and well, and completely unaware of this Ability, ironically his skills at ranting to unsuspecting customers about his love for ghosts don’t come in handy when, Brit, Bernard Robins attends his upstairs apartment, while being deceased.
Upon second entry, Charles notices the Renovated space, The Edison Accounts is a library dedicated to Storing information:
Death Records.
The point of this library is as follows:When people pass away, however this may occur… the lives they’ve lived are meticulously evacuated by Archivists.
Who are these Archivists? They are also ghosts, If someone has passed away without fulfilling their ‘purpose’ in life. Or ‘living to every opportunity.’ They are banished after death into this world, the very same world as Edison stands in.
Charles Edison, the monster of his own creation is bitten back by his previous ideas, Charles Edison described anyone who didn’t achieve something as having ‘no relevant purpose.’
Now.. every single ghost who died after Charles Edison, who died in a condition where their life is not yet ‘completed’ ‘achieved’ or ‘fulfilled.’
…Is sent to The Edison Accounts as a member of the deceased, as an archivist.
Their new involuntary job as archivists is to document lives that are still being lived, storing their data in the library for when they eventually pass away, to be kept safe. in doing this, no more ghosts were admitted to the Edison Accounts.
Each Ghost has their own backstory, a reason why they're there.
Charles man’s this operation as the boss, which he has grown to like again.
As the Book continues backstory’s are uncovered, the deaths of main characters are revealed and Charles Edison’s dying secret is finally exposed.
THE MORE YOU KNOW
Diversity in books is… most often not great, In The Edison Accounts diversity isn’t an addition, it was always there since the beginning. I’ve noticed In a lot of media there will often be an ‘additional character’ often trying to be adapted into something just for the sake of it.
The Edison accounts’ main character line up includes multiple people of Colour, a mix of nationalities, sexuality’s, gender identities and neurodivergencies*. this wasn't hard to include… at all.“But it’s set in the 1960s and 70s?”Yes. And?
*word I made up-
CHARACTERS?
Charles Edison, Roger Moore, Bernard Robins, Catherine Ross, Victoria, Sasha Reader, Robert ,Alexandra Scott, Guinevere Elizabeth, Gerard Evans, Caitlyn Crawford, Frank Sartre.

GHOSTS
How do archivists become archivists?
All of the ghosts at the Edison accounts died in a way that lead to their fate at the Library. Well, most did. Some made decisions, or were involved in decisions that lead to their fate.Essentially, if you’ve lived without ‘essential purpose,’ you’re done for… Quite literally.Certain people only ended up at the Accounts because their life story didn’t quite ‘line up.’To clarify, life not quite ‘lining up,’ doesn’t mean: little issues and unresolved childhood friendships.
Unfortunately, to end up at the library these ‘mistakes in lineage’ need to be quite drastic.
